Connect the GitHub App
Install the GitHub App with the repository permissions FeatureFactory needs.
- Audience
- owners, administrators
- Required role
- FeatureFactory owner or administrator, plus permission to install GitHub Apps for the GitHub organization.
- Product access
- Measure
- Navigation path
- Onboarding > Connect GitHub, or Settings > Integrations > GitHub
Outcome
Install the GitHub App and confirm that FeatureFactory can see the repositories you intend to measure.
Before you begin
- A verified FeatureFactory account
- A GitHub organization with at least one repository
- GitHub App installation permission or an organization owner who can approve the request
Install the app
FeatureFactory uses a GitHub App installation instead of a personal access token. The installation controls which repositories can be read and keeps access auditable in GitHub.
- 1
Open the GitHub connection
Select Connect GitHub from onboarding, or open Settings, Integrations, and GitHub.
- 2
Choose the GitHub organization
On GitHub, select the organization that owns the repositories you want to measure.
- 3
Approve the installation
Review the requested read access and complete the installation. If approval is required, GitHub sends the request to an organization owner.
Choose repository access
Choose selected repositories for the narrowest access, or all repositories when your GitHub governance allows new repositories to become available automatically. A repository is not measured until you activate it in FeatureFactory.
Confirm the connection
Return to FeatureFactory. The connection should show as healthy and the repository picker should list the repositories granted to the installation. Continue by activating the repositories that should contribute to metrics.
Troubleshooting
If the organization or repository is missing, verify the installation in GitHub organization settings, confirm that the repository is included, and then refresh the FeatureFactory integration. A suspended installation or expired organization approval must be resolved in GitHub first.
